Our
troop does activities like climbing and repelling, camping, rifle
shooting, canoeing, swimming, backpacking and more!
We also have
regular meetings where we practice for our big outings by doing first
aid, wilderness survival, and earn ranks. If you join our troop you can
run for leadership positions and influence where we go and what we do.
A scout-run troop, we believe in, and
abide by the Scout Slogan,
Law, Promise and Motto. We strive to
adhere to the principals of Leave
No Trace, the Outdoor
Code, and The
United States Pledge of Allegiance.
Our troop is open
to boys who are 11 through 17 years old and have earned their Arrow of
Light [Cub Scouting award] or have completed the fifth grade.

Troop 728 is an ecumenical Troop with a mission to advance scouts and to provide varied and
exciting camping experiences. Our campouts typically span 2 nights of
camping and are located throughout Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Our
older scouts have hiked the Teton's (1999) and Philmont (2004 and 2006) and will
be on their third Philmont Expedition as a crew in June
2008. Our younger scouts, as well as our older scouts, enjoy
the Chisholm
Trail Adventure, Summer Camp at Camp
Constantin (Possum Kingdom Lake)
and Winter Camp at Camp
Cherokee (Athens TX).
The Adult Leaders of the Troop are many and trained. Several leaders are Wood Badge Trained and beaded. The boys are trained as well with many of them completing Oak Leave and Golden Acorn. We have had boys attend National Youth Leadership Training at Philmont and several boys have been asked to work as instructors and staff at Golden Acorn.
The Scouts and Leaders of Troop 728 are
accomplished cooks, recently winning the Golden Turkey at North Trail's
annual Troop Cookoff and regularly place highly in several categories at the
Winter Camp Cooking Contests.
